Aspirations Circles
This is education at its simplest.
When a 4th grader does the research and articulates their aspirations to be a chef, we should help that student along that road. Wee should help them meet others with the same interests, and meet students who are studying culinary arts in high school and in college, and we should help that student meet chefs and bakers and restaurant owners.
Aspirations Circles are ongoing gatherings of students in grades 3 - 16 with professionals in that shared career of interest. The goal is to help young students learn a lot about the career and the road to that career. We hope that their Aspirations Circle will provide them with connections to scholarships and job opportunities when the time comes.
We recognize that many students will change their mind along the way. That is not a bad thing. It means they are thinking.
Helping students better understand their world of opportunities ahead, and the road to getting there, is the responsibility of the community, not just the school.
In 2025, Maine College Circle is working to establish Aspirations Circles in Culinary Arts, Performing Arts, Animal Science, Construction, Public Service & Military, Business Entrepreneurship, and Health Sciences. More will follow.
