Bob Stuart is a respected independent college counselor. He has over thirty years of experience in education at the secondary and collegiate levels and in corporations.

Since founding Yarmouth Educational Consultants, Inc. in 1988, he has helped families in all 50 states and four foreign countries and visited colleges in 43 states. He has provided educational advisory services to major international corporations, small companies, schools, financial institutions, and Upward Bound, a federal program for less-advantaged students. In the academic world, he has worked at secondary schools as a teacher and administrator in Colorado, Texas, and Maine and at Bowdoin College.

He has conducted college planning workshops for over 60,000 elementary and secondary school students and their families and provided individualized college planning advice to over 2000 families nationwide. He has been interviewed about college trends on National Public Radio's "Marketplace" and numerous other radio programs. He writes a "College Advisor" news column for guidance counselors and community newspapers in Maine and Colorado and continues to work hard to provide better and equal access to quality information about educational opportunities beyond high school and their consequent career opportunities. He is a leader in helping community banks play a strong role in supporting college education for their customers and communities.

Bob has served as the Global Education Coordinator for Tyco International, Ltd. He is a former president of the Southern Maine Association of Counseling and Development (an association of southern Maine guidance counselors), a member of the Maine College Access Network, a committee member of the New Hampshire Roundtable on Education, the president of the Foundation for the Advancement of Education, and Director of Maine College Circle, a twenty-year-old nonprofit initiative to bring the opportunity of higher education to more students in rural Maine. He has provided college planning support for Norway Savings Bank, Machias Savings Bank, Skowhegan Savings Bank, cPort Credit Union, the American Skiing Company, Castle Rock Bank, and Valley Bank & Trust. He has done college planning workshops in 111 Maine communities. He has spent his life in education and continues to build relationships between businesses, communities, and schools.

Bob has a bachelor's degree from Bowdoin College and a master's degree in education from Harvard University.

He is a father of three, with one still in college, a husband of a school teacher, and a former hockey and lacrosse coach. He plays hockey, lacrosse, and runs competitively. In 2005, he started lacrosse in Guatemala for children at the Guatemala garbage dump in partnership with Safe Passage. Since then, lacrosse has expanded to six other challenged communities throughout Guatemala. He travels to Guatemala each year to help the lacrosse program.
